Funeral services for Ms. Ann Burris 74, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery in the New Salem community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 P.M. - 9 P.M., and Sunday from 12 noon until time of services. She passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, at her residence. She was born January 13, 1942, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Cordell and Hattie Thornton. She was a restaurant cook who loved cooking. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Companion of 34 Years: Charlie Collier; 2 Sons: Phillip Burris and Ricky Burris; 1 Daughter: Shelia Pirl; 1 Brother: Charles Thornton; and 2 Sisters: Clella Martin and Bernita Thornton. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Glenda Bartlett of Gainesboro, TN; 7 Grandchildren: Lance (Ashley Denson) Pirl, Mark Burris, Ricky Ryan Burris, Dustin Bartlett, and Shawana Bartlett all of Gainesboro, TN; Bobby Bartlett of New York and Patrick Bartlett of Cookeville, TN; 6 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Sister: Linda (John) Sparks of Bloomington, Indiana; 1 Son-in-law: George Pirl of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter-in-law: Tamera Burris of Gainesboro, TN and 1 Very Special Friend: Penny Locke. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
